test questions

now that the holidays are over, (i spent christmas in the salt lake airport :( ) and my wounds are about healed, i am ready to try again! my only problem is that i have no idea how to go about it. i guess taking millions and millions of practice questions? so i guess my main point of this blog is to ask where did people get sample questions? which is the best brand? how many should i do? etc.....any help would and always is appreciated!!!! i did read the kaplan book, which is how i think i psyched myself out to begin with! so that did not work for me. :(
hope everybody had a great holiday!!!

Ok Jana. This is what I did. I got 3 different books from the library but these are the ones that helped me the most.

The one that Ameritech gave us. (Delmar NCLEX-RN REVIEW)

And Saunders Q and A book (its green).

These were both so helpful to me, but I did over 8,000 questions total. I did about 200 a day for 6 weeks, give or take a few days. I felt very prepared and when it shut off at 75, I was pretty sure that I'd done my best. That's my tidbit.

thank you ashley!! i had totally forgotten about the book Ameritech gave us!!! shows you how much attention i paid while i was there :) but i will try the saunders. that sounds like a good plan to me. i don't have 6 weeks but i guess we will see what i can do in 30 days :)

That should be plenty of time, but don't kill yourself. Just limit your time to an hour or two a day. It will suck, (I think my hubby wanted to chuck my books to China by the 2nd week) but it will be well worth it. Good luck, you'll do great.

Oh, and the highest score I ever got in either of those books was about 80%. Usually I would get like 72-75%, so don't kill yourself if you don't get 100%, I never did.

Jana, I agree with Ashley. If you can study from a couple of different books you will have a better chance of getting a wide variety of questions, subjects, etc. I also kept track of the questions I kept missing and studied up on those subjects. Like Ashley, my average scores were about 75-85%. Good luck, you can do it!

Hey JanaBanana.....I only did the Saunders green book. I did a 100 questions a day and then the day before I did about 600. I passed with 75 and the questions I had weren't too horrible.

I also only got about 70% or so on the practices and it was giving me major anxiety.

You'll do great! We are all praying for you. Let us know!
